10 Ideas to Cut Spending

Nov 9, 2011 by

  1. Don’t shop. (A very expensive hobby.)
  2. Take care of what you have.
  3. Wear it out. (I have 20-year old shirts. Don’t tell my wife.)
  4. Do it yourself.
  5. Anticipate your needs (so you can buy on sale).
  6. Research value, quality, durability, and multiple use.
  7. Buy used. (Buying new wastes money and natural resources.)
  8. Reduce your consumption. (Fun doesn’t require spending!)
  9. Do you really need it? (If “yes,” wait 24 hours and ask again.)
  10. Be creative: do you already own a reasonable substitute?

How about printing this one and posting it on your fridge for the whole family’s benefit?
