Everyone spends so much money on the holidays, you may feel unprepared for it. You’ll have to buy decorations, gifts, and then there’s cards to send and food to bake. Money will seem to fly out of your hands, but don’t let that convince you that there’s no way to save some money at the same time.

Check out these money-saving life hacks by PSECU that you can do any time of the year, but especially during the holidays where saving money matters the most.

There are plenty of other ways to cut corners and save more money during the holidays, as long as you think outside of what you normally do. Instead of getting wrapping paper at the usual store, get it from a discount store for just a dollar. Skip out on present labels and write who gets each gift on the wrapping paper instead. Make homemade ornaments instead of buying new ones, or unplug your lights earlier in the evening to keep the electric bill down.

The time leading up to holidays may seem stressful, but you can get through it with enough money still in your bank account to have some peace of mind while you spend time with your family and friends. Just try out some life hacks and change up your holiday routine and you’ll see what a difference you can make.
