Wacky Video and Thanks, Week Ending 01 June 2013
I’m fascinated by what different cultures find funny. I’m not Norwegian, but I like this guy’s humor. Please forgive the 15-second advertising intro.
Please send me your nominations for the week’s Wacky Video. I’ll give you credit if I include your pick here.
- The Carnival of Money Pros (whoa!), hosted at the blog Free at 33 with the interesting tagline “challenge the status quo in life and finance”, included my article “How to Lose Money Fast“. I recounted my blackjack playing years and other ways to flush money in a hurry. Bret at Hope to Prosper mentioned the same article in his Recommended Reading list in his thoughtful Memorial Day post, “America’s Greatest Generation”. I really appreciate Hope to Prosper, so it’s a thrill to be mentioned there.
- My post “Credit Score Statistics” revealed the U.S. states with the highest and lowest average credit scores, among other tidbits. Derek at Life and My Finances generously included the article in his weekly round-up list of some of the “best financial articles from last week“. Thanks Derek!
- Money Reasons almost forgot to publish the Yakezie Carnival, but when she or he did, this prestigious gathering of personal finance blog articles included my post “Payday Loans for Dummies“. Before you consider a payday loan, check out the this post and the 76-second video embedded in it. Avoiding habitual payday loans can literally be the difference between financial success and failure.
- Last but surely not least I got another much coveted “fist pump” from Travis at Enemy of Debt for my article “Mortgage Rates Jumping.” The U.S. 30-year rate bumped up over one-half percentage point in May, touching 4%. In this post I explored the affect on a monthly mortgage payment of rate changes.
Thanks friends for spreading the Money Counselor word!
